1.0 System Security and Monitoring
To provide a secured
environment for data and information exchange, AmEquities adopts
a combination of the following system security and monitoring measures:
- Data encryption technology (see item 2.0)
- Firewall systems and anti virus protection
- Regular security reviews
- Collaboration with established vendors to keep abreast of information
security technology development
2.0 Data Confidentiality and Encryption
AmEquities deploys the current Internet Security Standard known as Secure Socket Layer (SSL)
technology that ensures the data you sent to us and the responses returned
to you are protected by the security protocols.
To access our online services you will need a web browser that is capable of interpreting SSL
such as Netscape Navigator 4.0 and Internet Explorer 5.0. Follow these
steps to check whether your browser supports this type of encryption:
-
If you are an Internet Explorer user:
Open Internet Explorer. From the menu bar, click Help and select
"About Internet Explorer". Look for "Cipher Strength".
It should show 40-bit or higher value. (The current highest value recommended
is 128-bit). If it is below 40-bit click on "Update Information"
link next to the cipher value shown. Your browser will direct you to
Microsoft homepage that will give you step-by-step instructions on how
to increase your browser security level.
- If you are a Netscape user:
Open Netscape Navigator. On the menu bar, click "Security" button.
In the Security Info page, you will see a list of subtitles on your
left. Click on "Navigator" and a detail information on your
browser security settings will appear. Scroll down until you see "Advance
(SSL) Configuration" that comes with two options, "Enable
SSL V2" and "Enable SSL V3". Check on both options. There
are two "Configuration" buttons on the right. Click them and
check all the options available to enable highest level of encryption.
3.0 User authentication: User ID and Password
Another important security measure is for us to make sure that the login person is actually
the right person. The Password that you provide us is an important tool
in controlling your online access to your account. You should take all
precautions to preserve its secrecy. There are two ways of ensuring your
account is protected by your Password, first is to create a Password that
is difficult to be guessed by others and second is to change your Password
regularly.
Do not create a Password in a form of a proper name or any variation thereof, a full word from
a dictionary of any language, or a song title, etc. You are also advised
not to use any personal data like your birth date, address, telephone
number or account number as your Password. Do not use any sequences or
short repetitive phrases like "qwerty" or "456789".
Create a Password by combining numeric and character such as "BsRt7L32".
Make sure it is at least 8 characters long and that you keep it safe.
Your Password is case sensitive. This means you must choose capital or lower case characters
and stick with the combination you selected. Please choose carefully
when you register.
4.0 Login and Logout
Everytime you login to our website, you will be asked for your User ID and Password in order
for us to grant you the access authority. You need to key in your User
ID and Password once, and the computer will remember the active session
in its memory by using cookies. (To read more about cookies, go to item
5.0)
Once you are done with our website, you are advised to Logout from our system. Closing your
web browser alone does not log you out of AmEquities. Someone might
use your computer immediately after you, and your web browser might reopen
our website pointing back to your account, as it is still active.
Therefore, it is good practice that you always log out when you are done with AmEquities.
Press the "Logout" icon on upper part of the screen and logout properly
before you close your browser window.
5.0 Cookies
A "cookie" is a small piece of information sent by a web server to store on a web
browser so that it can later be read back from that browser. It is useful
to have the browser remember some specific information.
We at AmEquities utilize cookies to maintain session control once you are authenticated.
We do not store the cookie on your PC permanently. The cookies will automatically
be deleted once you have logged out, or when it detects inactivity after
a certain period of time. Using cookies enables us to:
- Facilitate multiple account logins within the same session
- Log out a single account session
- Automatically expire a session in the event that you forgot to log out
For your protection, you must enable your browser to accept a cookie from our web server in
order to access our account holder services. READ MORE ABOUT COOKIES.
6.0 Communication by E-mail
Sending information via e-mail is not a secure process. The data is not encrypted as it travels
over the Internet, and it can be intercepted by third parties. Please
be careful not to provide information that would allow someone else to
log onto your account in a single message. We prefer that you do not send
your Account Number, Password or any other login information to us for
query etc. via E-mail. If you have a login problem or if you need clarification
on any matters, please give our helpdesk a call at +(603) 2031 0102. If
you prefer to contact us via E-mail, please make sure you do not type
in any information that might allow someone else to access your account.
